HISTORY

I got my first Brittany as a pet, and a companion to my husband's Rhodesian Ridgeback. He wanted nothing to do with an 8 week old puppy at first, but eventually she won over his heart just like she did ours. Her name is Penny.

One day my husband and I were on a Saturday drive, and came upon a sign for a local dog show. We had never been to one and decided to stop in. We just happened to walk in on the Brittanys and saw the most beautiful male Brittany. His name was Castle One in a Millennium aka "Zoro" which later became BISS CH. Castle One in a Millennium, JH. I had to talk to Zoro's owner, Robin Tomasi. I told her I just bought a pup and liked the way she looked, but didn't know much about how they should look. She met with me and looked her over and said "She is pretty nice, you should try showing her." I never considered this but took her advice, went to handling classes, and started showing Penny. With Robin's help and support, to my surprise, she started winning. The rest, as they say, is history.

  
  

NEWS! 11/22/2011 2011 Rio and Sassy had 9 puppies on September 21st. 9 females and 3 males. Only 1 male show potential still available. Rocky is currently the #2 Brittany October Shonto finished his Show Championship with a Specialty Win in New Mexico. Miki finished her Show Championship with her owner Marshall. Bailey completed his Grand Championship title. He is owned by Roger and Susan Hunter. Rocky was awarded a Group 3 and a Group 4. March Shonto and Miki (son and daughter of Rio/Dina) are tied with 11 points and a 4 pt major each. February Rocky wins the Sporting Dog Association of Arizona show 2 years in a row. Sassy wins Select at the Sahuaro Brittany Club Specialty out of the field trial class under Roger Hartinger. Gourley's Dream Girl aka "Dina" 2010 Highlights ROCKY IS FIRST BRITTANY GRAND CHAMPION 47 Best Of Breed wins (5) Group 1's (4) Group 2's (9) Group 3's (4) Group 4's 4 Best In Specialty Show Wins 6/12 Northern California Brittany Specialty under Elliott Weiss 7/08 Southern New England Brittany Specialty under Patricia Hess 7/22 Texas Coastal Brittany Specialty under Adalene Pardo 11/05 Central New Mexico Brittany Specialty 12/04 Eukanuba Invitational - 1st Award Of Merit under Carl Leipman 7/10 - Rocky was awarded Select Dog at the ABC Summer Specialty under judge Steve Keating. Rocky made the final cut at the prestigious Westminster Dog Show on February 16th.

GOURLEY'S BRITTANYS PHILOSOPHY

As Brittany breeders we are determined to keep the Brittany a true "dual dog" to our best ability. This means good hunting instinct and correct conformation to the AKC breed standard. We participate in shows, hunting and agility with our dogs, but most importantly, they are first our beloved pets.

We do not breed often, and are selective in our breeding. We try to keep tabs on our puppies in their development when making decisions on future breedings. We breed for health and temperment. Most puppies are sold to people as pets and we try to ensure that they will be a wonderful family companion and live a long and happy life.
